Racial Justice, Equality and Diversity

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples,

if you have love for one another."

John 13:35

Taken from the Gospel of Saint John, the above scripture is central to Divine Saviour School's mission to ensure that all are loved, respected, listened to, challenged and inspired.

The command to love our neighbour extends to all human beings irrespective of race, ethnicity, culture or background; as Christ's disciples, our love for one another will ensure that all members of the Divine Saviour School community and all those we welcome to our school, will be held to be equal and treated with dignity and respect.

The promotion of human dignity is the foundation of Catholic Social Teaching. Here at Divine Saviour School, we aim to educate our young people to discern behaviour that should be rejected as wrongful and unworthy and celebrate our common humanity.

As an expression of Christ's love, we support a vibrant school with full equality that embraces diversity and allows for equitable opportunity for all: together we celebrate the diversity that enriches and unifies our community.

Lord Jesus Christ,
in your ministry
you were approached by people
of many different nations and cultures.
You listened to their cry for help,
treated them with love and compassion,
and brought them healing and wholeness.

In our own time may we provide
to all those who are suffer
the help that they need
and the care that they require

May we respond to the invitation of the Holy Spirit
to dream of a world made new
where the poor are not forgotten
but are given the opportunity
to live and flourish
with good health and equal prospects.
We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.

Amen

Books create belonging. They help us see each other and understand one another. They shine a light on the world.

It is vital that the books that we read in our formative years reflect the rich diversity of the society we live in.

This fabulous addition to our school library could not have made our children happier!
